WROOOM Madonna di Campiglio Ferrari & Ducati Press Ski Meeting
13 Jan 2010 Madonna di Campiglio: International Media Presentation of the New Ski Area
From Winter 2010/2011 new cutting edge lifts and downhill pistes for a total 150 km
Before an audience of accredited reporters at Wrooom 2010, the annual meeting of the Ducati and Ferrari teams at Madonna di Campiglio, this morning saw the presentation of a new ski lift scheme destined to revolutionize winter tourism in Trentino and skiing mobility in one of the most beautiful areas in the entire Alps: the new Madonna di Campiglio, Val Rendena, Val di Sole Ski Area.
From Doss del Sabbion in Pinzolo to Grostè at Campiglio, the backdrop is provided by the Brenta Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and a stunning mountain environment that has attracted millions of tourists. From Madonna di Campiglio, to Pinzolo, and up to Folgarida Marilleva, the new ski area will form a continuous chain of ski runs of every level of difficulty.
The new automatic 8-seater Campiglio Express will connect Madonna di Campiglio with nearby Pinzolo in just 20 minutes.
It will serve a new piste, part red and part black, which will link existing routes to form the DoloMitica run, descending from Doss del Sabbion (2100 m) to the valley floor (800 m), by two variants: the STAR, difficult, as fine as any piste in the whole of the Alps, and the 5.5 km TOUR, suitable for all skiers and extraordinarily beautiful for its length and variation.
The lifts and new pistes are scheduled to open in December 2010 to mark 100 years of skiing in Madonna di Campiglio.
“This great project – stated Tiziano Mellarini, Tourism Officer for the Autonomous Province of Trento – demonstrates the effectiveness of Trentino's policy of combining public and private efforts to meet the needs of the region and create new and environmentally sustainable development opportunities.”
“We are very proud to live in such a beautiful region – commented William Bonomi, Mayor of Pinzolo–Madonna di Campiglio – but we are also aware of our duty to preserve such an outstanding natural asset which belongs to everyone. The new ski area, which will form the biggest single area continuously navigable on skis in Trentino, is the product of synergy between the Autonomous Province, the Communes of Val Rendena and the cable car operators of Pinzolo, Campiglio and Folgarida Marilleva.”
“Our intention was to celebrate 100 years of skiing in Madonna di Campiglio in the best way possible,” stated Jalla Detassis, Chairman of Madonna di Campiglio, Pinzolo, Val Rendena Tourism Agency. "Our mountains are today a World Heritage Site and the new ski area, managed according to international UNI EN ISO 14001 environmental management standards, will enable even more people to enjoy them."
